Making air fryer corn on the cob couldn't be easier, and the result is delicious, tender corn that's also a bit crispy. You don't have to fire up the grill anymore to get an amazing flavor!
This air fryer corn on the cob is easy to make, naturally vegan, and utterly delicious. It's ready in just 15 minutes, and you don't have to fire up the grill or turn on the oven to make sweet, tender corn that's also just a bit crispy.
Summertime is corn season, and few things are more comforting than munching on some corn on the cob on a lazy weekend evening.
Even though corn on the cob is traditionally made on the grill, this air fryer version is perfect for those moments when you don't feel like firing up the grill just to enjoy a snack.
Besides being an excellent snack for the entire family, this air fryer corn is also a perfect method to prep corn for corn chowder or a simple Mexican salad.
The texture and taste of air fried corn is very similar to that of grilled corn, and you can even get the charred bits if you want.
Why you'll love this air fryer corn
- It's a super simple and healthy snack.
- You don't have to fire up the grill or use the oven in the middle of the summer to make it.
- Leftovers are great in a salad or other recipes.
Ingredients and substitutions
Corn on the cob - A quality fresh sweet corn, preferably organic, is ideal for air frying. I like the cobettes-style corn, but you can obtain the same size by cutting regular-sized corn ears in half.
Olive oil - I like to use olive oil for this recipe, but sunflower oil or avocado oil also work well. If you want to make this recipe oil-free, use a low-calorie cooking spray instead.
Lime juice - This is optional, but I highly recommend it because it infuses the corn with loads of flavor.
Salt and freshly ground black pepper - Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your liking. I like mine with lots of freshly ground black pepper!
How to make corn on the cob in the air fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF / 200ºC.
Mix the olive oil, lime juice, salt and black pepper in a small bowl.
Place the corn in the air fryer basket and brush them evenly with the oil mixture.
Cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. If you want it slightly charred, cook the corn for 2-3 more minutes, keeping an eye on it, so it doesn't burn.
Recipe notes and tips
- The corn tastes great as is, but if you want to go for a more traditional version, you can smother it in some plant-based melted butter and plenty of salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- This air fryer method will also work with frozen corn, but you may need to add approximately 4 to 5 minutes of extra cooking time.
- Always make sure that there is enough room between the corn cobs for the air to circulate during cooking. Work in batches if you want to make more corn but avoid overfilling the basket.
- If you have any leftovers, you can reheat them by popping the corn cobs in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 375ºF / 190ºC.
